I built a website that lists upcoming events in Amsterdam. From concerts to workshops, and from theater to Tai chi, you can find it at amsterdamfun.nl.
I scraped this data from all kinds of cultural organisations from all corners of the city. Mostly ones that are on my personal radar, or that I’m curious about.
The website was built as a ‘speed project’ in just two weeks. It’s goal was to help me get out more post-covid.

Features
- You can search events by text or by tags. These tags include what area of Amsterdam the event space is located in (center, north, south, west, east).
- You can also easily add events to your own personal calendar. All this functionality runs in your own webbrowser – as usual this project is 100% privacy friendly, with no tracking of any kind.
- You can quickly jump to a certain date using the drop-down selector in the bottom right corner.
I’ve also made sure it works well on mobile phones:
Future
Every day the entire list gets stored in an archive. Since I used to be a commissionar with the Amsterdam Art Council my hope is to one day use this archive to search for some fun and interesting insights about the Amsterdam cultural scene.
Limitations
Amsterdam Fun only shows events for the coming three months. For cultural organizations with lots of events I also limit how many will be collected (usually 30).
Often data isn’t as complete as I’d like. That’s because not all websites are easy to extract data from, and they don’t all give detailed information, like starting times or ticket prices. Sometimes organizations change their websites, and then their data won’t automatically be collected anymore until I update AmsterdamFun.nl.
Data could also be out of date (AmsterdamFun only updates once per hour), or be incorrect. So you should also make sure to check the status and location of an event on the website of the cultural organization yourself.
If you really miss a certain cultural space in the list, you can try shooting me an email.
